Nilavodu Vaanmugil — meaning “The Moon and the Cloud” — is a beautifully symbolic title that captures the essence of the story within it. Just as the moon and the cloud are drawn to each other yet move in different paths across the sky, the hero and heroine of this novel are deeply attracted to one another yet pulled apart by their contrasting views on life.
The novel tells the story of the relationship between a young woman named Nithya and a young man named Chandran.
Nithya is a strong-willed and independent woman who is determined to make her own way in the world. Chandran is a charming and carefree young man who is initially drawn to Nithya’s beauty and intelligence.
However, as they get to know each other, they begin to realize that they have very different views on life. Nithya is determined to pursue her career, while Chandran wants to settle down and start a family.
Their differences lead to conflict and ultimately to a separation. However, in the end, they realize that they cannot live without each other, and they are reunited.
